The framed Bold pieces were created as part of my Traces series inspired by our coal mining heritage. Bold Colliery was part of the South Lancashire Coalfield. The men and boys who worked at Bold produced coal for over 100 years but at a terrible cost. 70 men and boys lost their lives during that period. The youngest were only 14 years old. And yet, so little remains – street names on new estates where once stood pit heads and slag heaps.

These pale, subtle pieces were made using printed and discharged fabrics with line details added specifically referencing the Bold colliery. Small elements of red stitch were added to form focal points within each piece.

Each piece is mounted behind glass in an off-white surround with a matt black wood frame and is supplied ready to hang. (Photos show the individual pieces before and after framing). The price of these pieces have been reduced as part of my big house move clearance sale.
