Simply Screen Printing by Leah Higgins

Simply Screen Printing is a detailed, step-by-step, instructional guide to starting screen printing using Procion MX dyes, and other media, in a way that suits your budget and the space you have available to work in.

With over 500 images spread over 236 colour pages, it is suitable for someone who has never used a screen or worked with dyes before and, hopefully, useful to those of you who are already using dyes and screens.

In this comprehensive book you will -

  • Learn how to use recycled, repurposed and easy to find tools and equipment to set up for screen printing

  • Explore traditional ‘perfect’ prints and less traditional, but often glorious, ‘imperfect’ prints

  • Combine open screens with paper, thread and plastic loose resists

  • Learn how to use temporary resists, such as masking tape and freezer paper, and semi-permanent resists, such as flour paste, washable PVA glue and sticky back plastic

  • Learn how to breakdown print

  • Combine screen printing with masks on your fabric

  • And, of course, you will learn about colour and how to create the colours you want to use from a small set of starting colours.

Most of all you will learn how to build layers of colour, mark, line and shape to create beautiful pieces of fabric.
